Bear On the Square Festival in Dahlonega, Georgia.  Great Spring Fun!

Dahlonega, Georgia is full of fun festivals, great shops and historical sites.  The Bear on the Square festival along with the Gold Rush Festival has no doubt put this little gold mining town on the map when it comes to North Georgia Events.

Legend has it that the Bear on the Square Festival originated eight years ago when a local merchant spotted a baby bear in the tree in front of Brad Walker's Pottery on the square.  The scared little bear slept in the tree that night and when quite, slipped back into the hills, but was not forgotten.  The story lives on in Dahlonega and so does the fun.  Locals here are always looking for a reason to celebrate and turned this exciting event into one of the largest bluegrass/mountain music and shopping festivals in North Georgia.
