Street Smart Results for Berkeley Area Homes
I discovered a new feature as I was looking up the walk score for this week's featured property. It’s called “Street Smart Walk Scores”. The idea is that if you know the neighborhood well, you know the short cuts that make your walk to where you want to be, well, shorter. The property I’m featuring today I would have passed on despite its charm had I not discovered Street Smart. On my web site a property has to have at least an 80 out of 100 walk score to qualify as a great walk score home. Anything lower than that doesn’t get featured on the site.
The property that caught my eye today was a lovely, fresh-on-the-market condo in Emeryville. It’s got bay views, great looking public areas, a beautiful kitchen, a double sink vanity in the bathroom, a balcony off the living room and two bedrooms. Slick, sophisticated, and gorgeous.
Then I checked out its walk score. Only a 78! How disappointing. I scrolled down the Walk Score site and found “Street Smart”, and that feature brought this condo's score up to a respectable 86! All RIGHT.
Now, what’s it near? Well, how about all the restaurants, bars, theater and shopping at Bay Street Emeryville Mall? Like Rubio’s Fresh Mexican, Elephant Bar Restaurant, Jamba Juice and so many more. Trader Joe’s is close, and a great spot for groceries, and Starbucks is near for your anytime coffee (I know, it’s everywhere). You also have the train station close by, and the free Emery Go Round Shuttle if you don’t feel like walking. Urban living at its best!
