I was invited to the opening reception and went last thursday evening. It is so amazing what the volunteers have done for people in other countries for so many years. please check it out if you get a chance.

Promega Spring Art Showcase Features Bringing the World Back Home: 50 Years with the Peace Corps
The Promega Spring Art Showcase presents "Bringing the World Back Home: 50 Years with the Peace Corps". The showcase is pleased to host one of three exhibits celebrating the Peace Corp's 50th anniversary.
Bringing the World Back Home exhibit honors local Peace Corps volunteers whose years of service over the past 50 years has affected thousands of lives in various parts of the world. The art objects are windows into their memories and experiences with their overseas communities, and honor the people who welcomed them so warmly into their homes. Included are carvings from Africa, textiles, pottery from Central and South America, basketry from the Pacific Islands and statements by returned Peace Corps volunteers from the Dane County region.
The showcase opens Thursday, March 24, 2011 and continues through May 31, 2011 at the Promega BioPharmaceutical Technology Center in Madison. The exhibit is open Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm. A public art opening reception will be held on Thursday, March 24th from 4:30pm - 6:30pm. The March 24 opening reception kicks off "Peace Corps and Africa: 50 Years", a multi-day event at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For more information, visit africa.wisc.edu/peacecorps.
The exhibit is curated by Donna Page (donnapage@att.net) and is supported by the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Wisconsin-Madison (rpcvmadison.org) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison African Studies Program (africa.wisc.edu). Promega Corporation has sponsored the artist's showcase since 1996 as part of the company's commitment to creativity and innovation in the arts, cultures and sciences. The Biopharmaceutical Technology Center, located on 5445 East Cheryl Parkway two miles south of Highway 12/18 (Beltline) off Fish Hatchery Road, was developed, in part, to provide Promega employees and community members a place to pursue these goals.
