Join Catawba Science Center (CSC) educators and the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences to learn more about marine mammals and issues facing our shared ocean during an overnight family camp-in at CSC – Marine Mammal Mayhem – starting Friday, April 1, 2011 at 7 p.m. and continuing through Saturday, April 2. 2011 at 9 a.m.
This is a great way for families to have fun together while learning about marine mammals and how they are being affected by climate changes. Learn to identify marine mammals and some of the challenges they face. Plus, learn how your personal actions and daily routines affect them.
This camp-in experience will offer simple things families can do to make a difference.
The evening includes:
- structured,
- hands-on activities,
- marine animal dissection,
- and a session with an educator in the GeoDome,
- an inflatable immersion theater,
- pizza dinner,
- late night snack,
- & light breakfast the following morning
Cost is $20 per family participant for CSC members,
and $35 per family participant for nonmembers.
A dissection fee of $8 will also be charged per family group.
CSC staff require a ratio of one adult to two children,
with a suggested age range of 9 to 17.
