Many Realtors® in Weston Florida who show property rely on finding there way around the neighborhood... either with a map in hand or through map-quest. The ones who can afford the luxuries in life will take it a step further and purchase a GPS or Global Positioning Systems which virtually eliminates the use of paper.......and they are pretty cool as well. The problem with them is if you are going to purchase one...I suggest a small portable one and not the built in kind. Why do you ask? Because thieves love to steal anything from your automobile. They normally go for the big stuff like the stereo receiver. Because of many people forgetting to take these items out of the car they are looking for trouble. Another item that fits the bill are the portable compact disc players. Now that technology has reached different levels...most people are purchasing them ...but they leave them in their cars in plain view for the thieves to break in and are gone within seconds without a trail.

This was in an article in todays Sun Sentinel and not directly quoted but I thought that if it was missed.... people in Weston Florida would want to be aware of it possibly happening to them.

Police and local authorities in three different areas of Broward County have said that these GPS systens have replaced the above as the hottest items to steal. Being that they are portable ...they are easily pawned off. 

So next time you want to use your GPS system...you should remember to remove both the mounting part as well as the GPS itself...why be a victim. It is an investment and a convenience for us.
