My first year in the business...

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Real Estate Lethbridge

In January of 2007 I started selling full time.  That month I listed two properties and my broker quickly told me that its been 31 days with no sales.  I thought I was doing a good job with my two listings and figured that January was typically a slower month.  Hearing from your broker in your first month you havent sold anything wasnt the response I was looking for.  I decided it was time to kick it into over drive and prove to my bosses I was going to be an agent worth watching.  In February i wrote 11 contracts and got top agent in my office for that month!  In March I did the same and wrote 12.  I think I had made my point now. :)

Over the spring and summer months, i was able to close about 16 sales, pick-up a custom home builder, find two different companies looking for fix n' flips and truly make a name for myself amongst my peers.  Most of the agents already knew me from previous years in the industry as an assistant but once you are in their shoes (making commissions rather than salary), you earn their respect.

In September of this year I moved to the RE/MAX Bridge City Realty.  My previous brokerage made some business decisions I wasnt really fond of and decided to advance my career, I needed an international company backing me.  This new RE/MAX brokerage was my ticket!  Since joining, i have already sold two more properties and listed another upper-end bungalow.  I have close to 10 "A" list buyers with houses to sell in my pockets so business should be good over the fall/winter months.

The best part about joining RE/MAX Bridge City Realty is that i have had to advertise for new business yet.  Almost all of the listings/sales i have completed this year is all on word-of-mouth advertising and referrals.  I think the vetern agents in Lethbridge should be cautioned... Theres a new cowboy in town stirring things up!  haha

See you in the trenches!

PS.  This is a quote i see every time i leave my office for an appointment that really helps spark my passon.

"If a man proceeds confidently in the direction of his dreams and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with success unexpected in common hours." - Henry David Thoreau
