Dream the Possible Dream

I grew up in Jefferson City, Missouri. Most of us thought it was a boring town when we gradutated high school. We couldn't wait to leave boring Mid-Missouri. I didn't go far, I went to Columbia to attend Mizzou and never left. Other people gradutated and scattered far and wide. Other kids moved to "cooler" more exciting places like New York, San Francisco, Boston, Alaska and Seattle. As the years passed, an interesting think happened. I like to call it the "Columbia Rubberband". Lots of people I knew who moved away, didn't stay away. They brought themselves, their spouses and their kids right back to Mid-Missouri. I feel like I saved myself lots of time and money staying put. It's kind of amusing. It's really not surprising when you look at how affordable it is to own a nice home in Mid-Missouri. My Dad likes to say Columbia is so affordable, you never have to grow up. It's really true. This weekend, in Real Estate this week, they posted a sampling of Median house prices. Have a look:

Median home prices by town:

Boston MA $402,000

Seattle WA $361,200

Raleigh, NC $213,700

Dallas TX $149,500

Columbia MO $142,500

It's just one more reason to love Columbia, affordable housing.

It is amazing the price difference in parts of the country.  I would like to live in Columbia.  Good luck
