I was delighted and excited to hear from fellow Rainer, Margaret Rome as she begins to use her new photography tool, the Trek Tech Pod II monopod. I left a very a more detailed comment in her post about how I first became acquainted with this marvelous and lightweight monopod.

Thank you William Johnson for your suggestion. I took your advice! I love being able to see the squirrel's eye, the light through his/her ear, the individual hairs of the furry tail and the buds on the tree. All because I took your advice.

This was a comment made by William Johnson about my Spring Robins in Baltimore.

''I am going to recommend you use a tripod. It is not always convenient so here is a better compromise. Buy a monopod. I have a really neat one ( light as feather with magnetic ball head for fast release of camera) that would be great for a point and shoot camera. I use it when I don't carry my tripod or in a crowd of people at some of our events here in San Diego. It doubles over as a walking stick so it is very cool looking as well. It helps hold the camera from shaking ( even a tiny bit of movement can make the photos less sharp).  Once you have it, keep it handy and the difference in the quality of the shot you simply will not believe until you see for yourself...''

My TrekTech Pod II arrived this week and I have had very limited time to play with it. The photo above was taken using the tripod..a first for me.

The next time I see those robins, I will have better photos for sure!

Thank you William Johnson for your suggestion. I took your advice!

Hi Gary, I am still very much a work in progress when it comes to photography and expect to be for the rest of my life. There is so much to know and learn and I am very much still at learning level. But it is always a pleasure to help others learn as I have about things that help to make our photography efforts yield better results.

The monopod sounds like a solution for me too! Not only for the camera, but for my video cam... I recently purchased a Flip HD. I love it yet it's so light that it's a challenge not to shake. I tried my various tripods but they're either too small, or cumbersome. The monopod would help me stablize by adding a little weight, but also steady the shot without banging into stuff when you're moving around...

That is a great shot of the squirrel by Margaret.

Hi Rene,

I like this particular monopod because it weighs partially nothing. I always think the best choice is the one that you will use. Besides we don't look like camera geeks carrying it , especially as a walking stick. But I do admit, I rather like looking like a camera geek of late. People seem to clear the way for me with all my camera gear. The camera vest must be what makes them think I am a pro, LMAO. BTW, I also use this as a light stand for my off camera flash. So it can have quite a variety of functions.

So....where would I go to find one of these monopods?  Did I read correctly that it would work with any camera?

William, Thanks for always being available to help, for your emails and for your wonderful phone conversation this morning. I may have to give up real estate to  enjoy the new world that photography is opening.

Hi Sonya, Just Google Trek Tech Pod II, It appears to be available at a number of locations on line. I even saw it, for what appeared to be $60. And yes it will work on most any cameras as the reverse screw thread on bottom of camera where the release button attaches is a common thread size used on most cameras. This monopod has a magnetic release and security clip for extra protection.

Hi Margaret, You are so welcome. Oddly enough, you can easily do both and I am sure you will continue to enjoy both. Photography can be such a major addition and so useful for Internet marketing of community, properties, events, local businesses, etc. Not to mention all the other fun ways it can be incorporated into your real estate practice.
