After the recession one of things we were missing in Pinehurst was the lack of new construction - and we are now seeing some signs of economic recovery and growth with some new commercial construction projects.
I'm sure many areas have experienced similar conditions. Even though Pinehurst suffered as did other areas with the economic slow down - it didn't seem as bad as what the reports were from some other areas of the country.
Friday while running errands it struck me how we are seeing an increase in construction - It especially struck me that two new large chain restaurants are being built less than 1/2 mile from each other. This one in the picture is going to be a Cracker Barrel.
The reasons for this growth could be many. However, I think it probably has something to do with the BRAC relocation to Fort Bragg not far from the Pinehurst area. It could also be in anticipation of the men's and women's US Opens coming to Pinehurst in 2014 and overall increasing the awareness of this great golfing location.
Whatever the reasons - it is good to see economic growth and building starting up again in the Pinehurst area.
