I've gardened for many years, 17 of those in the tough and unique high country of Colorado, between Denver and Boulder. And yet, there's always more to learn. Plus, taking classes is a great way to meet like-minded gardening folks!
I got so excited just reading the classes offered by Timberline Gardens, located at 11700 W. 58th Ave. in Arvada, CO. I've always loved Timberline for great soil, stone, mulch, and compost. They have a huge nursery that's a lot of fun to visit.
The list of Timberline Garden's upcoming classes is long. Click the blue text to go to their website for more info, but just to entice you, I'll tell you they have classes on planting by the phases of the moon, tomatoes, raising fruit in the home garden, beekeeping, raising chickens in the urban garden, herbs, composting, natives, dry shade gardening, and more!
Plus, in May and Early June there will be three 'Customer Choice' classes. Call or email (ideas@TimberlineGardens.com) with your class ideas up until May 1, then go to Timberline Gardens website to vote.

I write posts on real estate issues and local events in the Denver metro area, especially those communities between Denver and Boulder, as a public service. My hope is to give people an idea of the ‘flavor’ of our community, in case they’re new or moving to the Denver area.

Its that time of the year again for green thumbs
Hi Joetta, I love gardening as well and am just disappointed that I don't have as much time as I would like to enjoy it. What classes are you going to take. There are so many wonderful classes. Go and enjoy!
Joetta, I just read my April copy of Better Homes & Garden cover to cover. I was exactly thinking about how fun it would be to take a class, our local garden stores does a lot of Saturday seminars, I am going to put one on my schedule.
Joetta,
Sounds like the perfect place to get you in the mood for spring gardening! You can learn a lot from these seminars and you did a great job with your post marketing the event for them. I hope you get to mingle with a lot of avid gardeners so that you can talk about the value of landscaping when selling homes too!
Joetta. Looks like fun. I'm not the best when it comes to gardening. I think I fuss too much. I have a friend who ignores all of her plants and they seem to thrive.
It is, Stan and I'm so excited!
Judith - I'm going to try to get my hubby to the raising chickens one. I want to have chickens, but not until he's on board. I am actually hoping to take several so I can write articles for my gardening blog, BeautyofGardening.com.
Linda - Do! If you're like me, once it's on the calendar there's a much greater chance I'll go.
Patricia - great point. A big investment into gardening isn't smart for renters.
Belinda - I do have to pay more attention to my gardens here than I did in other places, because our climate and soil are so harsh. The only plants I ignore are my indoor ones, and they do seem to appreciate it.
These classes sound like fun! Do you have many areas that allow chickens? Our subdivision does, but not many around here do, sad!
I think a lot of Arvada neighborhoods with HOAs don't allow chickens, and some of the other cities, such as Westminster, don't either.
Hi Joetta, you were right....the list of classes is really long. If it wasn't so far away, I'd try to go to several of them. My next door neighbor built a chicken coop and currently has the chicks indoor in his bathroom. He's planning on sharing eggs. I get to take care of the chickens when he is out of town. So....I'm really looking forward to it.
I've heard home grown eggs are much better than store bought. I think you'll be finding out soon!
