One of the joys of living in Central Maryland is the close proximity to Baltimore City. As in many large key cities in the USA there are good parts and there are bad parts and for the most part Baltimore gets a bad wrap."The Wire", a very popular HBO series, was set and produced in and around Baltimore. It portrayed the City as a less than savory place to be, but that is after all just fictional entertainment. There are many wonderful communities in Baltimore.
The most popular tourist destination is the Baltimore Harborplace. Opened in 1980 on the Baltimore water front, it has become a central location with many attractions. The National Aquarium, The Science Museum, The Baltimore Orioles, The Baltimore Ravens, premium hotels and many great restaurants and unique stores. A Maryland dining institution is Phillips Seafood Restaurant. They are celebrating their 30th year at the Harbor. For a real Maryland Crabcake. this is the ideal destination. Good food and a stunning view of the water.
There is a little something for everyone. If you want a get-away destination, Baltimore is a great choice. BWI airport is close by and Southwest Airlines offers many daily flights.
Although we are not tourists, it's always a pleasure to enjoy the sights. This past weekend was not not particularly warm, but it was bright and the sun was out. It's was a perfect day to enjoy the Baltimore Harbor. Here are some pictures taken as we walked from Federal Hill to Harbor East.
