Do you have stuff laying around?  Good stuff, just not good for you?  Stuff that might be exactly what someone else wants or needs?

You need to FREECYCLE it!

Freecycling is a way to reuse things, and help save the planet at the same time.  It was started in 2003 by an individual in Arizona.  The idea is to take things that are still in useable condition, and offer them to others for FREE.  Don't send them to the landfill.  You don't have to hold a yard sale, run to the Salvation Army, or do much else.  Just post an email to your local group, and wait for a response.

The main rule is that the item being offered must be free.  No money can be exchanged!  There are other rules about firearms, liquor, etc.

I haven't ever taken anything from the Freecycle group that I belong to, but I have given carloads of stuff away!

The stroller I bought at the mall one day when a certain four-year-old REFUSED to walk any more was freecycled.  Bob the Builder movies that were no longer watched.  Bed frames, cribs, blankets, outgrown clothes, almost anything can be freecycled.

To find out if there is a freecycle group in your area, go to http://www.freecycle.org/.  You might just find one near you.

Happy freecycling!

that is pretty cool! I'll have to check that out, most people try to sell things I can't imagine a freecycle popping up in the area but will look for one.

Gary and Susie,

Thanks!  I've been frecycling for a couple of years.  It has really cut down on the clutter in my house!

We use freecycle in Montana and love it. We've both given and gotten some great stuff. This summer I got an almost new grill and 4 really nice wood deck chairs. Not to mention, we're clearing away our own clutter!

We love freecycle. You can get rid of things on there that most charities won't even take. The whole idea is that one person's trash is another's treasurea and it keeps things out of the landfills. I've given away so many things on there. The system works great!
