This time not pet food recall.....Frontline Plus.....One of my cockerspaniels has been fighting a staff infection of unknown origin...in the middle of everything her thyroid took a dump. Suspicious of food allergies she was put on IVD diet for about 6 weeks. I was also told not to use any thing on her for about the same time period and not give her any treats etc. Very strict diet.

Interestingly enough her skin started clearing up. It appeared that food allergies was exascerbating her skin condition.

I noticed a few fleas here and there . Since it had been almost 2 months, I decided to put frontline on her. Within about 3 days she had broken out in sores all over her body. Her skin started turning red again.  The frontline apparently has been one of the main culprits.

I have since found out that many cats and other cocker spaniels have shown sensitivity to frontline.

Certainly not all breeds have an issue and why some vs others exhibit such a reaction is unknown but just like humans who have issues with allergies and others do not you need to be aware of such.

I never had a problem with Penicillin until a few months ago. I broke out in hives all over my body.

So along with the food we give our pets we must now be very aware of the medications we give them and watch for adverse side effects.

Thanks Terry, I had not heard this about Frontline.  Guess I need to buy my veterinarian friends lunch.
