The youngest person to be elected British Prime Minister, Pitt had it right!

How often do we hear that we "need" this program or that program? We "need" to take care of this group or that group. We "need" to sustain or increase this or that entitlement? We "need" more and more and endless regulation.

Why do we "need" to do these things? The reason isn't to provide! The reason is to infringe.

Statists cannot bear individual freedoms. Statists cannot bear to allow more personal freedoms. Statists cannot bear for people to think for themselves, provide for themselves, take care of themselves.

Why? Because there is no power in such for the statist!

The true aim of the statist is power. The aim is always power.

Freedom implies, demands really, a lack of control. Well, we can't have that! That countervails the soft tyranny of statism! Perhaps more than a mere countervail.

Freedom CANNOT be imposed. Slavery has to be.

Think of all that has been IMPOSED on us lately! And all that simply cannot be paid for...

Jay..well spoken; well presented; will be well accepted. You hit it on the head, unfortunately, not the Human heads that 'need' to be thumped. It is tiring to hear that if you don't subscribe to all the "programs', you are somehow against the poor, the tired, the downtrodden--NOT SO.

Thanks Barb. Funny how one group thinks success is how many people they can add to some entitlement roll and another group thinks success is how many people have been taken off and can act for themselves!

What completely boggles my mind is how people can be as clueless as our current legislators and still figure out how to get dressed and get themselves over there to the House and Senate to keep spending money the country doesn't have.

No, we don't "need" to keep throwing money down sink holes. No, we don't "need" to fund every Tom, Dick and Harry with a special interst group. And no... we don't need to keep creating more agencies and hiring more people to infringe on our freedom!

I already knew I liked you from your previous posts... now I know I also agree with you!

Richard - that is pretty funny, if it was not so tragic. People who are screaming that they want others to support their every desire, and want, and forever!

Marte - thank you for your kind words! I have one of these every Tuesday. You might check back - it sounds like you would enjoy them a lot! And you are right - I hear some of these legislators who are reading what others have written for them and they sound like 4th graders stumbling on the big words. And how about the guy who complained to the Marine Joint Chief that Guam was going to tip over from all the weight the Marines and their equipment were adding?!!

Mike - Pitt had it right! What's that Reagan said were the scariest words in the English language? "I'm from the gubment and I'm here to help."

We did, Steve, to keep unemployment under 8%. Even fanagling unemployment as they have, they can't get it under 8%! Measured now as it was under Bush, it would be what, 18%?

The opposite of freedom is security. The most secure people like prisoners and slaves are the least free. The people so dependent on these "programs" cannot seem to function on their own without them.
