Gabe - it's a Sandhill Crane - not a Flamingo but you're right; it will have Mom's neck soon.. Thank you
Silvia - that's what I was thinking too. So tiny.
Alexandra - I almost missed your comment. I love wild things and especially the babies. This same Sandhill couple is here every year. They take really good care of their kids too. Thanks.
That is a glorious scene of spring arrival. I was busy around my home office today, but had thoughts about visiting the park nearby to see what has hatched:-)
Toni,
The baby Sandhill Craine is so adorable!!! How awesome to get a photo of the little one. Do they just hang out in your backyard? You were able to get a really good close up without disturbing the family. Thanks so much for sharing this with us!
Toni,
How cute they are! Great that you have some interesting wildlife to photograph and share. I feel like I have been out of touch here. This pesky real estate business has been getting in the way : )
Myrl - it's a great time to see the babies.
Linda - I live on a golf course with open woods behind; so, yes, they do hang out in my backyard. Actually I was using a telephoto lens and when I cropped it in Picasa it came in closer. Thank you!
John - Thanks, they are so small compared to the parents and so darn sweet. We have been having tons of rain, lightning, tornadoes today-our pond is almost over-flowing-- I hope the little one survived.
Toni, Such a wonderful group of photos! Thanks for sharing them with us! You really have an abundance of wildlife in your area. A great place to raise young ones!
Have a great weekend!
FEATURED in BIRDS Group!
Gloria
Thank You, Gloria!!!!
Toni- I've rarely seen a Sandhill Crane much less a baby one. How lucky is that!!! Great photo.
Good morning Toni.
I love these photos...Thank you for sharing them with us.
Have a great day.
Kathy - sadly, I don't think baby made it through all the rain we had Thursday. We had some wild storms and I haven't seen the little one since.
Joshua - thank you for stopping by.
Toni,
Bravo for being featured in the Birds Group! What amazing stories you always have to share. I really enjoy all your posts.
I've been fortunate enough to see and follow a pair of Redhill Cranes and see the dance once (with no camera) but never again or a baby! I'm glad I got to see it via the Rain!
Thanks for a great featured post in the Birds Group! Well deserved too, I might add!
Patricia
Patricia - thank you. Hope you get to see a baby someday soon. Sadly, our baby didn't make it through that terrible storm we had last Thursday. I've seen mom and dad but no baby. They are so fragile.
I am so sad to hear this. Last year our pair lost their baby in a storm. 3 days later he was back. They searched and called and flew circles for hours on end. No idea where he was but magic to see him again. I hope maybe yours will emerge again.
Corinne-that gives me hope. Thank you. I would love to see that little one walking by.
Toni-That is such a cool pic. Simply Adorable.
Sharon - thank you! I love seeing the baby birds.
How cute! I love to see the little babies!
me too, Debra.
