The majestic Mt Katahdin is snow capped, sugar coated today as we snap a shot on the way by on a Maine real estate mission around the Patten area in Northern Penobscot County.
The mountain Maine is so proud of is never the same.
Because the seasons change, the weather varies.
All depending on the angle of the sun.
On Mt "K", the other hill tops at Baxter State Park.
She always shows a new and exciting side profile.
Baxter Park was donated by past Governor Percival Baxter.
Over the years more and more near by Maine land has been added to the acreage.
Increasing the foot print.
All to be kept forever wild.
Bought with Gov. Baxter's own family money, resources.
His selfless actions, good deed making the public park happen, possible.
I climb it once a year with my family and lots of extra friends. At the top, after hiking across the table land and above the tree line it is a spiritual experience. At Roaring Brook, at Knife's Edge, South Pond.
No one talks much but you gaze out over the long long vista and develop 1000 mile stares.
Detaching and realizing none of us is here on earth long. That none of the Maine beauty was or could be made by man. Plan to hike it and camp at the base this spring, summer, fall. Approach it from the south taking the Millinocket exit. Or the north entrance via Patten Maine and thru Shin Pond, up Rt 159 in Penobscot County. Learn more about Maine, Just ME.
