Acupuncture: More needles, more relief?
Acupuncturists will go for quality location, instead of quanity.
Three years of academic schooling about all the recipes of point combinations,will typically produce decisions narrowing down the choice to a few highly effective points.
Some patients are very anxious about the idea of having a superficial skin point site needled at all!!
"Gentle, safe, and effective" falls on deaf ears if you are approaching this patient with a needle in hand.
These patients may not be reading this blog in the first place, but it does happen that pain will motivate one to think even of acupuncture for relief.
This is good, for then they have the opportunity to have the causes of the pain addressed, and hopefully get off harmful medications.
That being said, once the acupuncturist is trying to help you feel better, one might be tempted to try again, and again, and again, and again....
