Distressed Home owners who are short sale sellers have lots of decisions and timetables and changes that make this a whirlwind time of confusion for them. The stress of moving, making hard choices about locations, sometimes up rooting children from schools, leaving behind items that are too expensive to move or that there will be no room to have in the new "start over location." The emotional roller coaster is a ride that none of us would choose....and sometimes it is the best choice.
We have had sellers who have had to move out of state quickly to take the only job they could find. That can also mean that there is not time to find someone to buy the snowblower, the lawnmower, large furniture that did not fit in the move-it-yourself vehichle, or appliances that may not typically be included in the sale of a home. We have made it a practice to find out what those items are early in our relationship before the move and work at selling them for the distressed seller.
It may mean ads on Craig's list....adding to someone else's yard sale...or offering them to the new buyer...it gives the distressed seller a little extra money to help them settle in their new home. Time is something we can all give...take a little as a short sale listing agent and give your sellers a little hand up.....it's part of the service you can offer and be the best Realtor you can be....the one with a heart.
