After a brutal couple of seasons for Minnesota sports fans the Major League Baseball season starts today with 6 games scattered throughout different times slots during the day. The Minnesota Twins don't take the field until tomorrow but its nice to have a sports team to be excited about ready to get going.
We suffered this fall through a dreadful Minnesota Vikings season, and now we are not sure that there will be NFL football come next fall. The Timberwolves, yes we still have an NBA team, have the 2nd worst record in the league. The Minnesota Wild were flirting with the playoffs for a while and then collapsed about 3 weeks ago.
The Twins have been division champs the last two season, and many think this is a chance to make it three in a row and finally get out of the first round. The challenge this year is that the Chicago White Sox have a much better club with the addition of big Masher 1b/DH Adam Dunn. The Detroit Tigers look like they have a chance to be good again as well. So I am not sure that it will be an easy task for the Twins.
I am normally optimistic but my guess is the Twins will disappoint and finish below .500. No picture will step up and have an ACE like season and a couple of the star players will get injured leaving Minnesota fans thirsty for a winner for several more months.
Hopefully they prove me wrong! I always have my fantasy baseball teams to fall back on!
