Good Morning Everyone,

I am writing today because 1 week from now I will recovering from my 3 day - 60 mile walk in support of a Breast Cancer Cure.  Below is my link to my site for the walk.  Please take a few minute's to see what a wonderful experience this is and how you can get involved.

http://www.the3day.org/philadelphia07/danrealestateman

I am not asking for your financial support.....I have not asked anyone for that support.....I just want to spread the word and Active Rain allows me this forum.  Everyone I come in contact with unfortunately has had an arms length contact with someone who has suffered from Breast Cancer or knows someone who has.  I myself have experienced the effects through my wife Beverly, who's Mother beat it in the 70's....only to lose to it in the 90's.  Bev and her two Sisters live every day with the fear that they could be next.....Breast Cancer is hereditary.  We all know that today early diagnosis is the key to help outrun and even beat this devastating disease.

They became involved in the fight for a cure the Mother's Day after their Mother passed to honor their Mother.  They paid the entry fee and raised additional money and support and joined in the Mother's Day 3+ walk/run in Philadelphia.  Since the second year they entered this event, the entire family now walks for the Cure.  We have since grown in our group to over 20 people every Mother's Day.

In 2005 the 3 Sister's took it a step further and joined the Breast Cancer 3 Day - 60 mile walk, which is a national event that takes place in Philadelphia (this event also takes place in 12 cities total).  They did it with a group of 10 women on their team, and each walker must raise $2,200.00 to enter.   A hard, emotional and deeply satisfying experience had a spiritual growth each could not have imagined.  Despite the blister's, aching bones and months of long training days they did it again in 2006 (the team grew to 14)......and now in 2007 the group is up to 18 and along with me this year are my two Brother -in - Laws.

All I ask that you take a minute to see how you can become involved in the battle to find a cure for this disease and please keep all of us and ALL the walkers in every city in your thoughts and prayers.....thank you.

Hi Dan! Congratulations! Some people don't realize the sacrifices and time-commitment you've made. I know you need to train for 6 months or more to be able to accomplish this task. 20 Miles per day is no picnic. If you email to me your pledge-link I'll be happy to pledge for you Dee@FineVirginiaHomes.com

I just saw this post and wanted to commend you. I've clicked "thebreastcancersite.com" for years to help fund free mamograms. Men can get breast cancer too...

Good luck!!  I do the Avon Walk For Breast Cancer every year and it is a mind-blowing event.  Just when you think that you can't walk another mile you see a woman with a bandanna on her head holding a sign that says 'thanks for walking for me when I can't' and suddenly the blisters don't hurt as much anymore.

To the AR readers of this post- Even if you don't give financially or do the walk the walk yourself, it makes such a huge difference to the walkers when you go out and at least cheer for them (especially around mile 20).  So if you know someone walking, please least go out and see them at least once on the their path.

Best to you Dan!!

Sara - Good for you.  The 3 Day had a great Crewing opportunity that if I don't walkj again, I will definately Crew.

Danielle - There ws a lot of talk about the fact that men can get it too.  In fact I met 2 of them and their story truly opened my eyes.

Jeffrey - The entire family is behind this cause.

Cynthis - The hardest part was all the training time...over 9 months of long walks and time,

Yay!!  Woo-hoo!  good for you, Dan--I have not done the 3-day myself, although I support anyone who does!!  (I decided to stick to one cause at a time...it tends to get pretty overwhleming in a big hurry if you're not careful!)

Wow.  Thanks for the info.  Walking is good for us.  However, I'm not sure if I could handle 20 miles in one day.  I'm going to drive 20 miles by car first, and then see if I should attempt it on foot.
