Compare and Contrast - With Johnny Cash!

I am a big fan of Johnny Cash.  He is my favorite artist; my most Listened to Pandora Station is Johnny Cash Radio.

Towards the end of his life Johnny Cash did some of his best work in the American Series; if you think you know Johnny Cash you need to listen to these albums.  Rick Rubin's American Records (Which used to be Def Records) was primarily a Rap and Heavy Metal company.

One song on one of the Albums is a Song Called Hurt.  The video is below.  My point is that this was a song originally done by a group called Nine Inch Nails.  I might not have ever heard this song if Cash had not sung it and if I had I would not have listened to it if Cash had not sung it.

I read someone said it took Johnny Cash to Sing Hurt so people would realize it is a song about the pain of drug addiction; although it can certainly be about other pain.

It is interesting to compare and contrast how 2 artist handle the same song in completely different ways.

Gene,

I grew up with Johnny Cash music around, among other things, and he is one artist who improved with age, I think.

Lloyd - I found Nashville Skyline - but no vocals on the version I found.  Love to hear Cash sing.

Mike- He did get better with age.
