BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING US... This is NO April Fool's

Big Brother is watching us... and this is NO April Fools. Being a Realtor, I am in my vehicle alot, as I am sure others here are too. We drive to appointments to see clients, go to home inspections, run errands, etc. But have you taken note of the new way BIG BROTHER is watching us?

Yesterday I was going to an appointment on Route 9 heading South out of Cromwell CT and into Middletown CT when I saw this....

You will notice there is a camera at the top (not a light as one may think) and sound system/speakers toward the bottom. My first question, was WHAT IS THIS FOR? When was it installed? How bazaar.

On my way over the bridge into Portland CT... I saw another. Not expecting to see this, the picture is not that clear. But I am sure you can make out the camera and the speakers right below it.

Now that I've seen this.. I'm seeing them all along Route 9 in different towns.. I haven't seen them on other highways/freeways in the area.. Is this another way that Big Brother is watching us? I stand corrected... I noticed cameras/sound speaker systems on other highways today... just more carefully hidden.

Now if we are being monitored... who then is monitoring the monitors?

Do other states have this in place? If so, what are they for?

Has anyone else seen these around the state?

Do we have ANY freedoms left.. or will we forever be watched?

Anna.. It might be a good thing.. but then again are they there to protect us.. or monitor us? Did you ever see the movie Enemy of The State? It rings true here.

We are our biggest big brother, how many of us use foursquare to check it, facebook to update our mood, twitter to update our location and what we are doing or when we have an open house. Our biggest tracker is our cell phone, with smartphones that have enabled gps. The government doesn't need to secretly track us, we actively give all our information to the world.

Yudi... I'd be glad to give up any tracking device.. including a cell phone, but it is a round robin. If I want to stay up with the competition... I can't. If the government doesn't need to track us.. why are there these devices (for lack of a better term) on the road? Why isn't the general public made aware of this, and it's purpose? Why be secretive?

Kristin.. Don't forget the drivers that are changing in the car. Yes, I've seen this.. in my twenties, I even did it. Oops. Should I have said that? At least I was not driving at the time.

Valerie; the bridges and tunnels in and around The Big Apple have been watching all for a while now. Unfortunately it's the times we are living in. Personnally, I don't have a problem with it. Valerie - I've seen camera's on the major highway's/interstates that are used to show the traffic on the news reports. I don't live near any of those major highway's anymore. Haven't seen any camera's around my little Village....yet.

Denise.. I was thinking the same thing.. however, when you see this camera for traffic or for the weather, they are usually on buildings.. and if they are on the highway they always seem to use the same angle. These cameras are spaced roughly ¼ mile apart from one another.

Denise.. We get so busy with our lives that we see a camera and say "oh, that right, they are for the weather/news"... but is this what we are lead to believe, what they told us? Who *truly* controls these? Who is monitoring them? Who is monitoring the monitors. LOL.

Hi Valerie, I think it is interesting that these items are just appearing. Isn't it intresting that these things are never seen being put up...when do they do it? I will have to check around Charlotte.

Valerie, on the routs you mention they can be used for checking for speeders. Someone can actually time the cars for how quickly they pas the markers and with the cameras get the plates and send them a ticket. Now what's this about taking your clothes off in a moving vehicle?

Ed... I just feel there is WAY toooooo much government control over us nowadays. Our freedoms are disappearing one by one. For those that are in this country and haven't experienced these, they know no different.
