What a great post!  I read recently that 58% of our population owns a dog or cat.  Definitely need to consider their needs when buying a home.

We were thrilled when we bought our current house...Fenced in back yard for the dog, Screened patio for the cats, It even has a kitty door into the laundry room....Problem is, One of our cats got so fat over the past few years, that she doesn't fit through anymore.....:0)

How adorable this is.  I love poodles. They make the best pets. Most of the time they have good dispositions.

I'll bet Basil loves lounging on the deck ... but it's probably a tough choice sometimes between squirrels and cookies!

Hi Denise....this makes me laugh.  Look at Basil's face as he heads back into the house.  He has places to go and people to see.  What a beautiful dog.

Denise, What fun for your dog to be able to come and go as he pleases, and without bothering you!  Great captures on those photos.  Does he have a sensor on the collar only for his entry?  So no squirrels or cats get in?  I know someone that had to do that.

Silvia - Yeah, I gave up 'Door Man' duties several years ago!!!  ;-)

John - Yep, lounging on the deck comes in last when there are squirrel's & cookies to be had!

Judith - We're happy that we gave you a 'laugh'!!!  You know...Basil's my baby!!!  Thanks for stopping by!

Doug - No sensor collar.  We have a very strict leash law in Pinehurst which applies to cats, too.  And, the squirrel's are too smart to come that close to Basil's territory ;-)  Although, Basil has blown the door off it's hinges and a couple of birds have hopped inside the porch a few times.

Ellie - Thank you!  Basil's royalities consist of long walks & homemade doggie biscuits!  I've actually tried to write off his grooming and vet fees on my taxes but my accountant won't let me ;-(

Hey Basil, where did your master get that awesome sign?

I'd like one that says, "Aussie X-ing."

I'm always worried about people running me over or stepping on me when I go out or come in.

Cheers,

Tessa (woof, woof)

Tessa...how's it wagging?!?!

I'm not sure where she got that sign, we've had it for years!  As a matter of fact, she's been looking for a new one that has 2 poodles on it, because we are a 2 poodle household.  Check-out this website.

I hope Ted finds one for you soon!  We don't want you to get stepped on....but, I bet you're pretty darn fast about getting out of the way!

Woof, Woof,

Basil
