Like any other three year old, he thinks Thomas the Train hung the moon. After hanging up his interest in Mickey Mouse, his fascination for Lightening McQueen and the whimsical town of Sodor took over. While every toddler has their favorite character, little Drew has something that only 371 children in Louisiana have….autism. Autism is a developmental disorder that usually appears in the first three years of life, effecting the brains normal development of social skills and communication. Drew is continuously battling the world that is filtered through hyper-sensitivity while his parents are battling to stay afloat, struggling to keep from drowning in medical debt. Autism comes with hefty price tag but Drew’s mommy and daddy are doing what any other parent would do and that’s fighting to get the recommended therapy and care that this precious little boy needs.
Getting the right support in the early stages of autism is imperative in order for an autistic child to succeed and be successful. Knowing this, Drew’s parents have made extreme sacrifices to try and meet his needs but again, this comes with a price. In addition to Drew’s autism, his mother is dealing with a rare neurological disorder that keeps her in a state of agony. This humble family is one of the many that are in need of your love and support. A charity event has been put together to help fund and support this loving family. On April 23rd, 2011, a jambalaya and raffle benefit will be held in Gonzales, Louisiana from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. This event will be hosted by “Crazy Ralph’s Car Stereo”.

The award winning jambalaya cook, Patrick Melancon Jr. will be serving up some of the tastiest jambalaya in the area. Douglas McAdams will be adding white beans and desert to the menu.

Raffles prizes are as follows: 32″ LCD flat screen TV, LG Blueray Player, Vehicle Tint Jobs, Cast Iron Cookware, Tanning Gift Certificates and (with your contributions) hopefully more. If you would like to donate an item for the drawing, please contact the previously listed numbers. Winners do not have to be present to win.
If you feel passionate about supporting those with autism, don’t think about…do it! You do not have to live in the state of Louisiana to help little Drew’s family. Thoughts, cards and wishes are just as appreciated!
