Fall in Dover New Hampshire - Ann Cummings 2006

Fall is in the air here in New Hampshire and Maine, and the fun things continue to go on!  You can see by the sampling of events I've listed below that New Hampshire and Maine offer fun for everyone all year long.

October brings with it the brilliant grand display of Mother Nature's foliage colors - everywhere you look in about 2 weeks or so, you'll see the most magnificent show in all of nature.  The fiery reds of the sugar maples, red maples and sumac; the brilliant oranges of maples and sassafras; the gold and yellows of birch, ash, hickory, beech, oak, and other varieties of maples - this is what draws millions of guests to our great state of New Hampshire every fall.

Where I grew up, we had A.L.F.  Short for Autumn Leaf Festival, I loved it as a kid.  I've went back nearly every year since moving, this is the first year I won't be going back.  It's going on all this week.

Hey Jason - A.L.F., that sounds like a fun festival to go to, especially if it's large enough to last a week.  Bet you're going to miss it!!

Hi Mariana - it really is just that beautiful, and even more so when you see it in person!  Some day, you shuld come out here for a visit to see us........I know you love your area, but you'll love it here, too!

Hey Missy - it surely is beautiful all the year long here!  I bet your fall post will be nice - your area sounds like a really nice area.  I had clients a few years ago from Ann Arbor, and they painted a really nice picture of it.  I think fall and late spring here are my favorite times of the year, love them all though!

The photographs are spectacular Ann.  And by the way, there is such a thing as a cold weather beer? Oh please.  What men will invent just to drink beer.

Jay - I'm with you on that!  Why go anywhere else at all when we have it all right here at our fingertips???

Alan - well, if you decide to come this way for a vacation, you just let me know and I can give you all kinds of tips.  This is a fabulous place to come visit and an even better place to call HOME!!

Patsy - thanks for your nice compliments on my pics!  And yes, there really is, according to Red Hook, a difference in the seasons for beer.  Who knew???   ;-)

Jeff - we do have plenty to do all year round, that's for sure.  It is just a great place to live!  Of course, I am a tad bit partial, but who wouldn't if they lived here?  Red Sox are in the play-offs, too.....  ;-)

Neal - you see correctly!  Being in the Sunshine State, you likely won't find these kinds of spots there, but I'd bet you have special places in your area that are just as cool to tell the world about.  Look around!

Midori - I do go to some, when I can.  I've been taking some great 'field trips' when I find some of these really fun events that I write about.  There just isn't enough time sometimes, but I'd sure love to hit more of them than I manage to get to.  You're very welcome, and thank YOU!

Diane - stop in anytime and let it all soak in......... thanks for stopping by!

Many thanks for reading and for your nice comments - much appreciated!

Ann,

The course on New England Architecture sounds interesting.  Great resource for things to do in your area - it looks like there's no way to do it all.

Hi Rita - and to think this is just a very small sampling of what there is to do here this month, to say nothing of things going on around the state!  I thought that course sounded really interesting, too - just might have to look into taking that.

Hi Karen - if you do make your wish to visit this beautiful state a reality, please let me know.  I'd love to show you around this area.  You'll fall in love, I promise you!!

Many thanks for your comments!

Ann, October is my favorite time of the year. The foliage here on the coast of NC is not as brilliant as my former homes in Boston and NY, but there is a change of color and I get so excited to see the orange reds and golds.

Hi Ginger - If I didn't live here and get to see the vibrant oranges and brilliant fiery reds, I'd be excited to see any kind of color change, but I'd miss terribly all of what I get to enjoy right here in my own backyard.  I hope to always be able to live somewhere where there's a change of seasons - I'd miss that so much if I didn't!
