Open house is a great way for a buyer to see IRL (in real life) the homes they admire online. Real Living HER has always had the best open house list in Central Ohio. Looking at an old post about the Real Living HER Open House List last August there were 243 open houses on one Sunday? That's a lot of opportunities for home buyers to see homes, meet agents. 
Is an open house a good place for buyers? It depends.
Is an open house a good thing for a seller? Many real estate agents will not do open houses.
Central Ohio Open Houses are not for Lazy Agents
It is the sellers choice whether their property is marketed using open houses.
If your house is open prepare it. Lock up valuables and drugs. Put out extra rugs and runners if the weather requires it. Make the home shine. Buyers (and some other people who are not really buyers) are going to see the house up close and personal.
