Let me start with background for those who use Facebook, but don't breathe it yet.  Within Facebook is the Open Graph (OG) Project.  Part of the OG Project is the ability to tell Facebook more about your page so tha they can maintain their search results better.  The long term of this is that Facebook is going to use Social to drive Search.

Most of you, I would guess 90% or greater, have limited or no idea what I am talking about and even less are actively promoting their pages to Facebook through OG Meta data.  If you aren't, now is the time to start and working together as a collective 205,226 members as of this writing.

One of the page tags is page type.  Currently there are no types related to Real Estate.  So you get lumped into a category known as Other which essentially means, "we'll look at that later".  That being said, "We will monitor the most commonly used types and graduate them to fully supported og:types."

I propose the following type tags for consistency across the Active Rain community.

  • RealEstate:Home
  • RealEstate:Condo
  • RealEstate:Commercial
  • RealEstate:Land
