I grew up and loved watching movies in a movie theater and enjoying the whole experience. The Giant screen invites you into the movie and does not disappoint. Then, being with others is something we cannot explain, but enjoy as we all stare at the screen. Who can forget movie popcorn and candy too?

WHERE ARE ALL THE GOOD MOVIES?

Here's the problem. There is nothing really worth seeing and from the line-up I saw, nothing really to look forward too either. Strange, they are still building some nice theaters too so what is Hollywood thinking?

HBO NOT BAD

Lately, I caught some very good movies on HBO with name stars too. I thought if this keeps up, who will go to the movies anymore?

REMEMBER PURCHASING MOVIES?

I remember when VHS tape cartridges came out. It was very expensive to buy a movie. When it got down to the $20-30 dollar range, you slowly took the plunge on your favorite and at least you owned it. You could have friends over and watch and make an evening of it.

GOT CHEAPER TOO

When the pricing got down to $10-20 range, people went crazy and were buying movies up. Six months after your purchase, they would come out with a deluxe version and extra footage and you had to have that one too. Now, I was in a used book store the other day and you can get them for $1 a piece...

DVD'S WINDING DOWN TOO

DVD's replaced them and it starts all over again. First with High Definition and then Blu-Ray. Finally, I don't have to own anything anymore. You just subscribe to Netflix for $8.00 a month and get access to over 17000 movies...Owning a collection doesn't make sense anymore...

NO PLACE LIKE HOME

So, back to going to the big screen movie theater as an outing worth doing...unless they come out with blockbusters that command the big screen or start showing double features with a cartoon, the second best place is your own home which may soon become the first best place

Ahhh....I love hearing about positive movie going experiences....popcorn and a movie is up there with some of the greatest experiences and should be protected and respected...thank you

Sharon...these movie people are losing momentum...I hear you. All the greats like coppola, speilberg etc. got so rich and bored, where did they go? Pretty soon, I will be gone too!

Helpful Hannah lives up to her name and her fame...will do HH...and thanks

I can't stand the blood, gore, more than needed sex and vulgarity plus the blasting booming of the soundtrack that so many of the movies have become these days.  A person could come out of the big movie theaters with a hearing loss!  And what happened to all the wonderful kids movies that a whole family could enjoy?  I do want to see the "Kings Speech" which I understand is a very good movie.

You covered a lot of good points....When this industry first got started, you could spend a half day at the movies easy. You left when ever you wanted to....Fast forward today....its now an effort and a risk of time, money and annoyance to boot....thank you Sue....and best to Robin

Richie...I wholeheartedly agree with your last paragraph...TCM, AMC, Pay-per-view, our own popcorn and adult beverages...Doesn't get any better.

Good morning, Richie. My wife and I are stay-at-home movie goers. It’s just so easy to order one from our cable provider, or wait for our latest Netflix choice to arrive in the mail... or watch a movie using Netflix’ “Watch Instantly” feature.
