Dreamland BBQ, Huntsville Alabama

Dreamland BBQ, Huntsville Alabama...I can't believe I've been in this state for five years now and today was my first visit to Dreamland BBQ and it was not a disappointment.  I've been to just about every other BBQ restaurant in town, chosen in part because of convenience.  While Dreamland is not difficult to get to, I just never seemed to near it when time came for lunch.  Anyway, today's visit to Dreamland worked out perfectly as I needed to get the oil changed in my car and the Dealer just happened to be across the street.

I was going to order a BBQ beef sandwich until the waitress informed me that they don't serve beef...it's a  "Texas" thing and we are in Alabama (the waitress didn't make the Alabama comment...that we me...Texas is kind of like their own country which is ok with me as long as they keep making BBQ beef the way they do)...Dreamland serves Bar-B-Que chicken, pork & ribs...so ok on to plan "B".  I ordered the 8 oz. pork sandwich (it also comes in a 6 oz. size) and a side of creamy cole slaw.  Since Dreamland is most famous for it's ribs the waitress also brought me a couple of ribs to try along with their own home made BBQ sauce ...I'm hooked!!!  Dreamland is also known for their Banana Pudding which the waitress insisted I try...I did...and took another order home...just to be sure I liked it...I did, but I may will have to go back again real soon to double check.  They wait staff was friendly and very helpful...always makes for a better experience.

Dreamland first opened it's doors in Tuscaloosa Alabama back in 1958...guess they're doing something right because now there are 8 Dreamland Restaurants in Alabama and Georgia.

I'm afrain I made a little mess of the sandwich, but who cares...it was great...actually it was great twice, because I managed to save some for dinner that evening.

Nick, love it! I could go for those ribs right now! Since my husbands heart attack, I haven't see ribs and they are a family favorite. I'll have to sneak me and the kids out to lunch without him knowing. LOL

Okay Nick - Now you've done it.  You've made me hungry, and I'm too far away to run to Dreamland. :)

Boy Nick, I want to visit just to have some BBQ!  We have an excellent BBQ place around the corner from me in Atlanta called Community BBQ, but from your photos, your place beats all!  Fun post.

Nick, can they open a new restaurant in Springfield?  Sounds like a great opportunity.  We have a few BBQ restaurants here, but not one like this.

Nick....I don't eat meat & that looks good to me; BBQ Chicken is ok as long as the sauce that makes the chicken a BBQ experience is not too hot. don't do hot other than Garlic.  Love the way they decorated the place & in particular How they Serve the choices--almost looks like they use newspaper. Bet that is a busy place when the weather is less than stellar.
don't worry about the caloric count--just walk or run before eating dinner that same day.  Have a great week.

Nick-I'd do well in Alabama.  I like my BBQ pork, they can keep the beef in Texas!  Now you've got me thinking, I'm hungry to BBQ, and it's only 6am!!
