Probabaly been said before, Our gas prices are mild compared to most industrialized countries.  We are cheap compared to most of Europe. In 2008 when gas was over $4/gallon there was an economic impact on demand as people changed their behavior (carpooling, less trips, etc..). Shortly after the demand decrease, prices moderated, then went down for a long period of time.  I even lost a bet to my oldest son who said it would go down below $2 per gallon - thought he was easy money for me - one of the best losing bets I've had to pay out.
