The Arcadia Association of Realtors ® Tech Committee will be holding the 15th Annual Realtor Business & Tech Expo on April 12th 2011 at the Santa Anita Park Racetrack in Arcadia CA from 9 am to 3pm pacific.
It will be a great opportunity for networking, so bring lots of business cards. There will be lots of prizes and give-aways, including an iPad2 and some gear from our friends at Kodak. There will even be a beer, wine, and cheese social with a live band from 3-5pm.
I met Ryan Asao, the 2011 President Elect of the Arcadia Association of Realtors
, at the Keller Williams(R) Family Reunion in Anaheim CA. He was very excited about ActiveRain and what blogging here can do for agents who want to have a stronger online presence. We spoke at great length about the benefits of blogging and other forms of social media, and I was very impressed by his knowledge and enthusiasm.
When he told me they would be having a tech and business expo in April my interest was peaked. I figured it would be a great opportunity to set up a booth and spread the word about AR. When I asked him for some vender info and a sign up form, he blew my mind. He actually wanted us to be a key note speaker at their luncheon. I was speechless. He wanted to give us a mic and have us teach the attendees how to market themselves effectivly online. As the blog trainer for the ARU I instantly jumped at the opportunity.
We discussed some of the things we could teach at the luncheon, and what we decided on is something I have never done before. We are going to take a listing from an agent in attendance, and place it on the first page of Google within 30 minutes for a relevant search term. We are not talking address here. We are talking about something a buyer would really type into Google if they are looking for that type of property. So here's the plan:
Our VP of Sales Douglas Ching and I will attend the luncheon together. While I teach the attendees some basic SEO, Doug will be
working on the listing with one lucky agent. By the time I'm done teaching, we will have Doug and the lucky agent go to Google and perform a search for the listing in Google.
Before this luncheon ends that listing will be on page one of Google, or I will eat my hat!
We will also have a booth at the expo, so stop by and share your success stories, or just say hi. We love meeting our members face to face and I never pass on a photo op with one of our members, so bring your cameras.
