Chapel Hill, a 110 a community of townhomes and loft spaces in Peekskill, NY, 10566, are affordable and suggests the good life. So good, it is like living in a resort, and there is something for everyone. The Lifestyle center, a 16,000-square-foot building erected in 1920, which is a state-of-the-art recreation center. It features Nautilus and Cybex exercise machines, a half basketball court, full bar, party rooms, co-ed sauna, and a marble altar with a 25-foot-high sacristy canopy which you cannot deny is spectacular, no matter if you are religious or not.

Living here is all about lifestyle, it's about living a good life; pool, tennis, exercise classes, cooking classes, movie nights, concerts and an unbelievable staff who are as enthusiastic,  as they are helpful. All of this is included in the affordable maintenance fees. There is a Mom's Club, knitting club (oh so "in" these days), yoga, and quiet trails to hike upon the rolling hills of Chapel Hill. Another plus is Chapel Hill is right off Maple Avenue, a very quick drive down Hudson Avenue to the Metro North and the heart of downtown Peekskill for the arts, cultural events, dining and night life.

A little history for you, Chapel Hill is the former estate of Daniel H. Craig, founder of the Associated Press (AP), who in 1865 built a 3,000-square-foot Italianate-style mansion (a popular style home in the US back 1860 thru 1870's), on the 110-acre parcel for his daughter, Florence, who suffered from tuberculosis. He had the site named, Mount Florence, and while she recovered, his financials did not and the home went into foreclosure. It was bought by nuns, Sisters of the Good Shepherd, and they actually kept the name and christened the site Mount St. Florence. The nuns continued to build and added on to the chapel, a boarding school, which is where the lofts are today, built on and living quarters. What is left is the converted chapel and the St. Germaine boarding school.

The current site for the lofts style units was the boarding school in 1907, these units are quite spacious with their tall ceilings, exposed brick, all very Soho-like with an industrial, open space loft feeling; some of the upper level units are duplexes. The chapel is a 13000 sq foot is the resident Lifestyle Center with classes, and gathering space, and meeting room. There is another building residents can use for large parties for a small fee.

Currently there are 13 homes available ranging from lofts in the St Germaine building, all the way up to 3 bedrooms townhomes. There are also  3-4 bedroom semi-attached homes, too, but none are currently on the market.
