It is time again for the Allardt Pumpkin Festival. It is a fun for all event with beauty padgent, car show, motorcycle show, pumpkin run, crafts, food and lots of fun to go around. It is an event the the entire community looks forward. People come from far and wide to participate.
The question is...will 2007 have another record breaking winner. The crowd was estimated to be 15,000 people in 2006. We are hoping for larger pumpkins and larger crowds. Allardt's population is only 700 people. The Festival began in 1991 when local business man the late Jim Asberry amazed gardners and farmers with a 716.5 lb pumpkin. At that time it was the largest pumpkin in state history. The event will end with a great fireworks display.
