Can Your iPhone Get a Virus ?

By
Real Estate Agent with David Tracy Real Estate #555994

Recently I have heard or been involved in many discussions concerning the iPhone. We are all wondering if the iPhone can get a virus. Do you know?

While many say the iPhone is like a computer and they don't see the difference between a cell phone and a computer so maybe I could get a virus on it. Additionally I have been having some kind of problem with.  I am going to chalk it up to AT&T issues.

I personally love the iPhone and think it is one of the wisest purchase decisions I have made in a while. It helps me with my real estate business and I can keep up with my on line marketing while on the go.

I do think that all smart phones are the way to go for business people.

I just don't know what the makers of cell phone call them CELL PHONES  and not COMMUNICATORS.  **GRIN**

I had the iPhone for a month; maybe mine had a virus.  Loved the Apps, could not STAND the phone service.  9 dropped calls in one day was the event that had me return my iPhone.

I listen to Leo LaPorte The Tech Guy pod cast. He lives in Pataluma CA. He says that AT&T doesn't have strong reception service in that town. However Verizon does. So that is who he has his cell phone with. He does product reviews among other things and that is how I know about the cell service.

Sorry to say you will most likely continue to have drop calls.

I live in Texas and we have a very strong reception here through AT&T but not Verizon.

So as long as you have a Smart Phone thorough a cellular service that is has strong reception in your state or town you should be okay.

I just checked Snopes.com to see if cell phones can get a virus, and, although it didn't specifically address the question, here is the closest answer I came up with....

If you read the "Origin" section, you might discover that cell phone viruses are probably coming soon.

Hi Sussie,

Did you try the restore function? I think it would be hard to get a virus on a iPhone. Since it is not a computer. If you check the link in Craig's comment it says right above the article it is a HOAX. That means no truth to it.

I went on Apple site and then typed in virus on iPhone they answer was very little of a chance. More likely if you "jailbroke" your phone.

I would think if your contacts on yahoo are acting up it could be the internet where your yahoo contacts are stored.

Let me know if the restore helped the problem.

I think it's way more likely to get a virus on a Windows phone. Just like Apple vs Windows computers.

From what I know, Apple is less likely to get a viruses. Apple does not allow Flash on the devices and that is the major (not all) source for viruses. As far as drop calls, that is due to carrier. I had Sprint for the longest time and I get no signal at one spot without fail.

Your iPhone may have some bugs. I notice on mine, my notes would automatically delete itself when I save it. My facetime would sometime not activate the camera. Could be an Apple OS issue.

Maybe in Pearland you have better reception with AT&T, but not here in Dallas.  I switched from AT&T to Verizon and haven't had a single dropped call since. With AT&T, even sitting right next to the MicroCell, I couldn't complete a call longer than 10 minutes without it being dropped.

I can't get good reception near my in home computers. I NEVER have drop calls. Other wise it is okay. I know the sun is doing weird things with solar flares and I wondered it that was it but must not be if everyone is not having issues.

I actually thought about going Verizon. My brother in law is like the regional manager or something high up in this area...and really wants us to switch.

I hope not!  I don't ever want to be without my iPhone and I'm dreading the day when something awful happens.

****UPDATE***

My daughter has an iPhone too and she is experiencing drop calls. My only issue is that I don't get good reception. Now if that is the definition of a drop call then I guess I am getting them too. What I have a problem with is the warble voice sounds coming through the phone, as people are trying to talk to me.

Maybe that is my actual phone or maybe AT&T.  Still don't know.
