Grand opening of Salt Spring's new dog park is Saturday, April 16th, 11 to 1...located in front of the indoor pool on Rainbow Road, this will be a welcomed space for canine friends to meet...dog training demonstrations, snacks, look a like contest, free raffle of dog house...fun!

ArtSpring's Treasure Faire donations collection is now in motion...the event takes place July 14, 15, 16th, and is the main fundraiser for the year. Call 250-931-0931 for more details!

April 11 to 23rd, catch the first show of local amateur photography at Auntie Pesto's, in Grace Point Square.

Live music at Treehouse Cafe, 6 to 9 p.m., with Mike Alviano on Friday and Marley Daemon on Saturday. April 13th is A Taste of the Caribbean dinner.

April 10th enjoy Ballet Victoria's presentation of Carmen and Other Works, at 2:30 p.m. Tickets: 250-537-2102.

April 9th, at All Saints by the Sea, catch the premier performance of West Coast Brass, a newly formed brass quintet. Concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets at the door or at Acoustic Planet.

April 8th...Cuban dance to help spread the love in Zimbabwe. Salt Spring musicians Jose Sanchez, James Mujuru and Oona McOuat are going to Zimbabwe to change the world. Join the fundraiser dance at Mahon Hall, beginning at 7:30 p.m. (Salsa lessons at 8:30). Tickets at Acoustic Planet and at Morningside Organic Bakery Cafe.

Hastings House Dining Room is now open for the season. 3 and 4 course menus to savour and enjoy!

Salt Spring Gallery of Fine Art (on McPhillips Avenue) is showcasing a series of west coast watercolours by architect Jonathan Yardley. An artist's reception on April 9th, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Don't miss this!

The First Annual Blossom Festival is this weekend, with lots of events from the 8th to the 10th. Friday night concert, Picnic in the Park on Saturday afternoon, festive Sunday party and Taste of Salt Spring event. Proceeds to benefit the Japanese Garden Society of Salt Spring Island. It's Spring...taste it!

Saturday Market in the Park, studio tours, Blossom Festival amazing events, live music venues around town, special menu choices at restaurants, Transitions sponsored film at The Fritz...lots to do and to see this April weekend...lucky us!
