We have all read the paper or listen to the news. They never give us the same take on the market. Some say that we are definitely on the way up while others report we are still in a slump. So which is it? I have been selling real estate for over 25 years and in 4 different states. What began in Florida in early 2004 kept moving up the state lines. In 18 months it hit the North Carolina and Tennessee market where I had my second real estate office. When I chose to move to Northwest Indiana one of the major reasons was the market. Mid America is really very stable. It isn't a transient location. We sell to the great grandparents down to their children's children. When kids graduate from some of the best colleges in the US, they come back here. Some of the best engineers from Purdue are here working just like their parents and their parents parents. The other reason my husband and I like it here, is the people. I even enjoy the winters. Oh I know, I must be kidding. Growing up in Naples Florida was wonderful and warm, but here we can enjoy all the seasons. The lakes are beautiful and there are so many things to do with Chicago so close. So yes, the market is down a bit. In 2008 you saw a slight boom in the market. The market is still very good and a good time to buy. Rates have never been better, harder to get the loan but when you do it is affordable. Seller's are having the hardest time. The might have bought high and with little or no money down.
