Establishing a relationship with a real estate agent

One of the most important things that you can do when you are either buying or selling a home is to establish a trusting relationship with your Shoreline real estate agent. This is the person that is going to help you buy or sell your home. The agent will be giving you helpful advice along the way and you need to be able to put your full trust into everything he says to make sure that everything goes smoothly along the way.

Other peoples opinions

One thing you're going to be faced with when you are buying or selling is other peoples opinions. You'll find that a lot of people will tell you what worked for them when they sold or purchased their home and why it should work for you. Your agent may be telling you the exact opposite, which can get very confusing to say the least.

One thing that you need to understand is that real estate transactions are very different from one area to the next, even inside Shoreline. What seems to work in one place can be different from another. If you have friends and family giving you advice and your Shoreline real estate agent is telling you something different, this does not necessarily mean that the advice you're being given by your friends is wrong. It simply means that another approach was taken according to their real estate situation at the time.

The times change

You may be getting some advice from people that have sold their home over 20 years ago. Take this into account when you are trying to stick to your Shoreline real estate agent's recommendations. Things can change from one month to the next in real estate and different approaches are used in different cases.

Experience

One thing to remember is that your friends are probably not real estate agents themselves and the only experience they have ever had in real estate has been personal. If you feel any pressure coming from anyone that is inexperienced you'll need to remember the trust you have established in your Shoreline real estate agent and believe in it 100%.

The agent is on your side

Real estate is really a win-win situation for both you and your agent. You will be able to have a positive outcome by selling or buying a house, and the agent will make a commission based on his expertise and the work done to make it all happen. Your agent has a vested interest in seeing a positive outcome for both of you and with experience guiding him is able to give recommendations based on sound business principles.

When you begin working with a Shoreline real estate agent you need to have trust established between the two of you. He needs to know that you will follow his recommendations and you need to trust that he will always give the best suggestions based on his extensive real estate knowledge.
