64 Comments on Is Your Team Crosstrained?
Chris, We share some common characteristics no matter our branch of service :)
Bliz...I haven't gotten my wife fully trained yet, but she is coming along nicely. There is a huge upside working with a partner - know wants success and great service as much as you do.
Steve, When it's a husband/wife team, there is no doubt about committment, in more ways than one! :)
Well said Bill. I call it the ability to wear more than one hat when I speak with my team. Specialization and niches make us money, but having well rounded skills keep us in business.
Phil, That description works too! That well rounded knowledge/skill set allows us to react faster, meet the needs of the clients better. Don't leave any blatant gaps and it's all the better for everyone.
BLiz, congrats on the feature, but more importantly, congrats on having an awesome partner to work with!
Bliz: What a great combination? It's great when you could work together to achieve your goals. Nice post too.
Eric, It works well for us :) 25 years of marriage, 9 years of real estate...do we get credit for 34??
Donna, We have to be on the same page 99% of the time....the boss knows where I sleep!!
I have cross-trained myself in all aspect of real estate. I can cover myself at a moment's notice
Jane, Never any doubt that you were fully crosstrained to handle anything....crazy calls, lease requests for what the monthly HOA fee is....anything at all! :)
Bliz you make a great team. I agree with what Donna Paul said. When you are on the same page, everybody on the team will succeed. Have a great weekend. Great post Bliz.
Bill, Liz,
In any business, it's important that everyone knows what to do in case of an emergency, if you will. Allowing a weak link in a service business can be an emergency, but, with proper training as you well put, the emergency can be avoided, even with the second string.
With so much to do in real estate, a team member should be trained to take over for another. Hard to train everyone when we are so busy. My buyer's agent is my daughter.....shecand take over for me and I for her. But we sure hate when the other goes on vacation.
Lanre, Hope you have a great weekend too! Beautiful weather here today :)
Don, We're on the same page. No emergencies is a good thing.
Kay, Just because we can cover for each other, doesn't mean we always have to like it. Vacations put you in a doubled workload mode, stressful for whoever isn't on the beach watching the surf!
Bill & Liz, I love the focus on "cross training" I wish more Brokers would have the same attitude, I see how important one person in the Team becomes when the other one is out Sick or Vacation....
I am an "army of one" hence I am cross trained as a Marketing Expert, Listing Expert, Buyer's Agent....and on on and on. My back up is my BlackBerry, My Dell Laptop and Zipforms:)))
Bill and Liz, You are fortuante to share such a wonderful relationship and to be able to welcome the strengths of the other. I don't believe any one person can be great at everything. In order to thrive in todays housing climate, it is important to recognize your weaknesses and find someone who is strong in those areas to partner up with. You will be stronger as a team and learn from each others strengths. It also makes it easier to have some time off every once in a while knowing they have you covered.
Endre, You know the drill from your Army days....be able to operate solo as needed, or a team. Your team is pretty technical, but you can leverage that skill set beyond most individual agents.
Jeffrey, Would have never expected to be in real estate when we first got married, but life it funny that way! I'd agree, no one person can be the expert in everything, so either partner up or hire someone to fill the gaps.
Great comparison between a well trained military and a well running office machine. If everyone learned this lesson, most operations would run much smoother all of the time, even when everyone is there. It's called teamwork.
Doug, Even more important to have the teamwork down when you're married to them! :)
