Boy, I sure am late on this one.

Here I used to be a bleeding edge blogger, writing about things to do in Sacramento before the Internet was invented, practically.  And it was tough, let me tell you.  I had to do it with quill pens and muskets and trebuchets.

Now I'm almost a week behind on saying anything about this whole ActiveRain / Move.com thing.

But I finally put something cheesy together.

Clearly this is a topic that evokes strong feelings on all sides.

I wish people were nicer to each other than they were.  Lately it seems that nothing can happen, no one can say anything, without a lot of meanness and cruelty masquerading as erudition.

I'm going to buy a volkswagon bug and paint a peace sign on it.

What really gets my goat is when someone falls down and everyone gathers around to kick him in the head.

This is the whole enterprise behind bubble blogging.

"Saying first is lame.

Not knowing how to reply is lame."

Etc.

I've said it on other posts and I will say it again.. Why do people think the guys set up this platform if not to sell and make money. The fact that we have had access for so long for free is a perk.. and it might change.. AR has been great for me and I appreciate  having this forum. If the guys stay in charge and or merge with someone who will hlp them make money.. great.. It should happen and it will happen.

If it became part of R.com I would probably withdraw.. as R.com is not my favorite.. but that's why I have an outside blog.  That's why I put lots of energy into that blog.  All the brouhaha is pointless..

I agree that we can't begrudge someone making money, and while I would be sad to see it happen, I'm sure that sale would have been the end of AR. Once they started trying to squeeze every dime out of us the new members would stop coming and I'm sure a large percentage of current members would take the knowledge they have gained and found another forum in which to be heard. Just look at their weak attempt on R.com to start a blogging site.

Missed all the fun, huh John. I've commented so much on this, I have nothing left to add, just wanted you to know I stopped by and read.

Hey, John. I wish you would allow comments on your blog. I know it can be rather pesky to constantly weed-out the unwelcomed visitors, but good articles like this BEG for two-sided conversations...

Rich,

Thanks for saying you liked the article.

I used to allow comments on my blog, but all it did was lead to headaches.

We can have a multi-sided ocnversation here if you want.  See how well this thing's working?

 John,

Get out the paint brush and put out the fire.  Plaster the peace sign on the bus!  LOL
