ActiveRain/Kodak Challenge - "For Sale" Yard Signs as Marketing Tools - It's My Calling Card

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Charlemagne International Properties BRE# 01147470

Yard signs have been around a long time, and even as "Old School" as they are, I still feel a sense of pride and responsibility when I have one installed on a client's property.  The property owner is telling all who pass by his home he selected a real estate agent to represent him in the sale of property.  He placed his trust in me, and as soon as the sign is erected it becomes one of my many marketing calling cards directed at the consumer.

My goal is to make my yard sign an effective calling card that actually generates calls or contacts.  Norma Toering & Team sign is the traditional red, white and blue REMAX "For Sale" sign sans the balloon.  I like a clean, uncluttered design--just my name and cell phone number in large print and my company affiliation at the bottom.  The sign's function is to:My sign rider sends people to my website for more information

1)  Announce to the neighborhood and passersby the property is for sale.

2)  Provide my name, cell phone number and a live person to answer their questions.  I can't tell you the number of prospective buyers who are stunned when I answer the phone on holidays, weekends and 8 to 8 during weekdays. Sure, sometimes I miss a call, but I will always return it.

3)  Drive consumers to my website where they will be directed to the property information,my blogs, IDX search, and a host of other real estate related sites.   I do this by attaching a rider with my website address where they will find information about the listing, community, local maps, school information and my brand of real estate.  They have the option of emailing me if that method of contact better suits their needs.

Keep it simple and keep it easy if you want consumers to call!

Dear Norma,

Although everyone is talking about "obsolete" signs , many older clients actually don't use the computer.
(I can say that as I am older myself!)

Non computer folks could be watching out for a family member that they want close by or for a friend.

Signs indicate trust in you by the owner -- just as you said.

Have a happy day_
Lynn

Lynn - I'm a firm believer in keeping many of the old school methods in place but adding new ones to capture younger buyers and sellers.  The yard sign has been around for years and it still works.  Thank you for your input.

Norma, I like the idea of a rider with your website.  I do a rider with an 800 number that will text them information but by sending them to your website it also increases your chances of capturing them there with what else you have to offer.

DeeDee - Yes, the idea is to drive them to my site and let them become familiar with my brand, my blog, my listings and special services.
