AAAHHHH Masters Week, I love this week, The Masters is obviously a very special golf tournament, for me, an avid golfer for almost 35 years, I have watched almost every Masters since 1980, watching the games best, perform at their absolute peak under some of the most difficult circumstances and pressures is truly inspiring.
I had the good fortune of being invited by my sister to attend the 1997 Masters, unfortunately she was not quite aware of the magnitude of the tickets she held and when she told her husband, he politely trumped my "you betcha" and the two of them went. My brother in law is a custom home builder in Crested Butte CO, and my sister managed one of the resorts finest hotels, a guest at the hotel was very appreciative of my sisters over the top service and rewarded her with 2 tickets to The 1997 Masters + accommodations in their guest home on the course, it just so happened that this was the Year of the Tiger, yep his first Masters victory. I was very happy for my sister and brother in law, they were the ones that deserved the tickets, they were the ones that took care of their clients and treated them above expectations. This is how every business owner should treat their clients, she had no idea that this person was any different than every other customer and she took care if him in the same manner she treats everyone. ( PS they were invited back for the next year as well) Take care of your people and you will be rewarded.
So back to The Masters, what I love most about The Masters is that to me it signifies spring, summer and plenty of golf. The course itself is one of th emost beautiful in the world and I could have photos of the course as my background (wait a minute, I do) and never tire of looking at them. I guess that is the big reason I enjoy working with clients on golf course properties, whether buying or selling, being around the beautifully manicured greens and fairways and the quiet that usually comes with them is very therapeutic.
Several years ago I visited a friends house, they lived in the mountains outside of Denver, a 45 mile trek to work each day, when I asked how he handled driving that far every day, he said, " John every day I leave work it is like therapy, the drive home melts the day away and I am living in my dream home, I feel like I am on vacation every single day, that convinced me to buy the house literally next door. I lasted about 3 years because that was not my idea of a drem home, however living on a golf course, now that would be like going on vacation every day.
Go Freddy You The Man!!!
(sorry to disappoint those of you that thought there was a connection between Fred Couples and my sister, I am just a big fan)
