Farm your niche market and cover all the happenings in your neighborhood
My goal is to write 5 days per week
for 30 days. So I've started
this series that I hope to motivate
me to write. 30
Days of Marketing Opportunities
will give you 30 projects or tasks that your Virtual Assistant can
handle on your behalf, generating leads that will ultimately generate
more income for you!
These are tasks that do not
require a lot of high-end skill but,
instead, require some time (hence the reason your Virtual Assistant
should handle these tasks, not you!)
and attention to detail.

Day
5 - Farming Works!
If you haven't already done so,
choose an
area to farm and then develop a plan for marketing to that farm.
Farming an area is extremely beneficial. Some of
the
benefits include:
* The residents of that area get to know you more than other
agents.
* You will learn so much about that area as you get to know the
intricacies of that neighborhood.
* You can then blog about the neighborhood as the "area specialist" and
watch your blog shoot to the top of the Google search engine!
So,
how do you go about choosing and making the most marketing use of a
farm area? Here are a few steps to help you off to a great start:
Select
- The area you select should either be one that you are already
somewhat familiar with or one that you feel relatively confident that
you can learn about quickly and easily.
Research
- Learn everything you can about the area. Learn about the
market, what's selling, what isn't, what the homes are like, what the
community is like, what the residents are like. The goal is
to set yourself up as the area expert.
Market-
Create a campaign to market to your farm area. Decide in advance how
you will market to the farm. There are literally TONS of great blog
posts here on Active Rain. Check out how these members are farming and
the tips they provide real estate professionals:

I love the series you have created Renae. Farming is indeed important and it does make you the repeated worker in the area or demographic you farm. Consistency is the key.
I have been committed to a neighbhorhood for a long time. Farmed it consistantly for a year. Got business every time I was out, but not from the neigbhorood. Started again this year and the same thing is happening. Here's to consistancy!
Thanks so much, Gary! Consistency is definitely the key - in all marketing efforts. It will make or break what you're doing.
Thanks, Mike! And considering we're just a few short weeks away from planting our vegetable garden for the summer, truer words have never been spoken!
Absolutely right, Bukka. The more consistent you are, the more they see you hanging around and doing something, the more they will come to rely upon you as their go-to real estate agent.
Fantastic, Norma! Stick with it. Don't give up. It will pay off. I'd love to hear what marketing you are doing within your farm area.
That's funny that you got business but not from the neighborhood. What types of farming activities are you doing, Lindsey?
How about a little marketing to get your day off to the right start? As a Virtual Assistant, my goal is to help you achieve your goals. Want to grow your business? Come along for the ride as I provide practical tips and suggestions to help you do just that!

Here's to wishing that your farm never has crop failure!
My strategy...Pick an area, commit to it and own it!
You may get lucky early, but with time the neighborhood will see you're committed and will commit to you.
We have just started to farm an area and know it is going to be awesome --- consistency is the key - Have a great day!
