Spring is here and all things are growing. The flowers are blooming, leaves are sprouting on bare branches, and pollen is in the air. But there is also the growth of the "not so desirables", the weeds, the poison oaks, and even the fungus. Property owners may find that now is a good time to look to growth in places that growth should not be happening.

This photo was taken of a growth coming out of the siding of an apartment.

Oh yuck!  When I was showing homes this week we saw something very similar to that......under the kitchen sink!  We had been told this property needed major work.  They weren't kidding.

Good Morning Tom..WE all need to take the necessary precautions when dealing with MOLD. Mold problems can ruin a real estate deal in a heart beat. Not to mention all the related Health Issues that can happen too.

Most of prefer to see flowers!  Have a great weekend.

Life is better when the camellias are blooming in Maryland.

Ann, I know this is not pretty, but at least you knew what it was.

Jerry - Identify the problem, then correct the source.

Roy - I prefer flowers too. Thank for the camellia photo.

Tom, you should make this blog post public, so the folks that are not AR members can see it.  It's something that your customers will need to know!

Fungus among us!  I'd say there's been water getting in that siding for quite some time now...

Jeremy thanks for the comment.

I (head bowing in shame) can not post to the public at this time. I agree though that the public needs to be more aware of the signs of water and dry rot damage. This growth that I saw is not a "flick it off with the finger and slap some paint" type repair. You and I know what we will see inside long before the wall is opened.

Enjoy the day!

Tom, no problem.  I just wanted to make sure you weren't accidentally leaving the public out!

Nice weather brings out the critters and the other stuff.  Thanks for the reminder that we need to keep an eye out for the fungus among us.
