I recently returned from a marketing seminar and learned a lot of great information as well as took steps to set some items in motion.

But one of the valuable lessons I learned is that after the seminar is over, you need to have a roadmap of what you want to accomplish from your newfound knowledge.

You need to determine what your goals are and what achieving your goals will mean to you.  You need to take action.  No matter how easy or difficult various aspects of the project are, you need to gocus on the end result.  That's when you have success.

Well, the road to success a lot like a journey much like taking a cross-country trip.  You may from time to time stop at rest areas, have a flat tire, have engine trouble, go to restaurants to refill your dreams.  Many times on the road to success you may need a break at a rest area and that's OK, but you have to get back on the road to continue your journey.

You may think your goals are too big and that they're not achievable, so you get off the highway.

You need to map out your goals and dreams just like you map out a trip.  Things won't always go as planned (isn't that the truth), but if you're in the middle of your trip, you don't just stop.

If you want to change your plans, then write out a new route to take and head in a new direction.

As a side note, most people spend more time planning for a vacation than they do planning for their goals for the year.

So, take time right now and plan for what you want to achieve in the next 90 days.  Not the 6 months or 1 year, just the next 90 days.  You'll be amazed at what you achieved in that period of time.

Thanks Dan. I have never been able to make goals so far in advance. Its never made sense to me. You have to map out a plan and see yourself going from a to b to c. Very good post.

Dan, Goals are a HUGE part of my day, my week, my month, my quarter, my year and so on.  I have my yearly goals laminated in plastic and they hang in my shower along with my affirmations.  I see them and I read them every single day...this absolutely programs my mind in a positive way every day.  I did a goal building course as part of my Dr. Fred Grosse sessions and it was life changing.  I was able to channel my energy and my focus and I took my sales from 180 transactions in a single year to over 300 transactions.  The key was knowing why I wanted to do more and what my rewards would be not only when I reach my goal but the little rewards each month.  I am serious when I say goals changed my attitide and my focus in a very positive way.
