Active Rain has now become my first stop when looking for a referral agent. And did I get a response when I posted a 
buyer referral. Some agents responded immediately and it took others a few weeks (I don't get that).
I had spent some time with a very picky buyer looking for Orland Park homes and after several showings she mentioned that she was interested in looking in Indiana. When I say she was a picky buyer I meant she was picky with agents. She interviewed me in my office before committing to working with me. So I really spent some time going through the AR responses before choosing a team that I hoped she would like.
I sent her their website link and she felt they would be a good match. They sold her a home and I just received my referral check last week.
Last year I received an e-mail from an AR member about listing an Orland Park townhouse. I wanted this listing and I took it, even though it was overpriced. I thought I had convinced the sellers that I'd let them try at their price but we would most likely need to reduce.
Well, once again that taught me the folly of taking an overpriced listing. But there was something about wanting to accept that AR referral and doing a good job by selling it.
This listing was on the market for over a year. I thought they would switch to another agent at some point but they liked me and knew I was doing whatever I could to get their place sold. They even passed up an offer that was higher than what they finally sold for.
They just weren't quite ready at that time and I kept working with them and we finally got a 2nd offer. Things changed in their lives and they were finally motivated. I was so happy to be able to send the referral check to the AR member that sent these sellers to me.
