Loan Officer minus 55 days and counting

Well If NASA can do it with an old bucket of bolts, why cant I do it with and old bucket of bolts too.!!

My spirits are much better now that I have gotten over the shock that I have been in the hospital for 27 days and still have at least 55 to go. My wife Linda and my daughter Jeanne helped point out to me that beating my head against the wall really just hurt the wall and did nothing for my complexion. So here I sit.

Linda is working on getting my TREO 650 set up so I can use the email function from my hospital bed giving me a bit more freedom. She is also bringing in a better radio so that I can catch Rush daily ( Kate that is for you ).

The good news ands the news I need to focus on is that I am cancer free. My Dr says with a change of oil and a tire rotation or two I should be great for another 100,000 miles and for this I am eternally grateful.

I do drive the nurses crazy though because I watch so much of the food channel. I tell them that I am living vicariously through the net work. Now they all tell me what they had to eat. Even my Dr came in last night to change the dressing and said that she had sushi for dinner as she had to come over here to take care of me.

Bruce, It's so great to read a blog from you ! It sounds like you've brought your wonderful humour and cheerful spirit to the hospital with you and now the nurses and doctor are benefitting....this is good.

You are blessed. I'm working with a client in my market that has been "terminally ill" for 9 years and has beaten the odds at Duke. With the right attitude anything is possible.

Aloha Bruce, great to read your post and glad that your attitude is adjusted. Well, anyway I had a pan seared Grouper with a sun-dried tomato sauce on a bed of spinach with garlic mashed potatoes and carrot cake for dessert.

Bruce... glad all is well. Just get yourself healthy, taking care of yourself and your family. And yes, Cancer free... great news.

Aloha -- great to hear you are doing well and that you ARE cancer FREE! That is the best news and I am sure it will give you the strength to continue your recovery! Good to hear from you and keep up the humor -- it certainly is one of the keys to healing.

Cancer free!!! yeah!! good health is what is the most important thing! Stay healthy. And keep watching the food channel. They make some really tasty looking things.Good seeing you post.

I am pleased to hear the good news and pleased that you still have your wonderful sense of humor. You hang in there and do as they say that way you might get an early parole.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am very happy for you that you are cancer free. I know that many days in the hospital can drain your energy. When I was in the hospital, I got my wife to bring my laptop with my Sprint card and the Treo. It helped keep my sanity to be able to go on Active Rain.

So glad to see your spirits are high.
I'm eating as I write - Salad - Romain lettuce with big chunks of ripe Haas Avocados, sweet red bell peppers, cukes, onions, tomatoes and a light olive oil vinaigrette..... just in case you wanted to know. :-)

I think you are onto something: The Food Channel Diet. Instead of eating, watch the show three times a day with peeks in between for snacks.

Wow, Bruce- they got it! It must be a bit of a shock to realize the time investment to make certain that it's gone, but with such a huge albatross removed, keeping you safe through the recovery takes time (and your own patience). You're a great example for anyone encountering a huge challenge- thank you.

Cancer free! That is such good news and what a relief and reason for celebration. The recovery time will be tedious and boring but with company like Paula Dean, Rachael Ray, Emeril Lagasse, Bobby Flay and sports, you'll do fine. Keep the faith.

"Cancer free," such a simple statement yet so powerful a message. Congratulations! Be careful about your food fascination though. By now fried worms and roasted roaches probably sound good. Hold out for the good stuff.

i did the relay for life in cape coral this year, about 7 hours of walking for cancer. didn't know i was doing it for you too back then. it's amazing how they can rebuild us. i hope the new you works as well as the old you (not that you are old).

Hi All thanks so much for yout thougts words adn prayers. The baseball playoffs are starting today and I have been watching them but will be back to the food network tonight.
