For my readers who have been with me for a few months at least, you will recognize my updated map to the right which my records my hobby activity of "bumps" in my region. the  Intermountain Corridor - Utah to Yellowsone

You must realize that my interest is informative NOT alarmist in nature, and results from a lifetime of similar interest and education.

bullet How often do earthquakes occur in Utah?
About 700 earthquakes (including aftershocks) are located in the Utah region each year. Approximately 2% of the earthquakes are felt. An average of about 13 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or larger occur in the region every year. Earthquakes can occur anywhere in the state of Utah

This week's map indicates 55 (micro) earthquakes for the region, compared to 25 per week three months ago. Such increase  is not surprising considering current world activity, nor is the magnitude worrying. It merely reinforces my belief in a "living" planet. I live slightly south east of the large light blue patch (The Great Salt Lake) Hey, that puts me right in the middle of my chosen map.

Larry, I have found those maps so interesting, I found there are earthquakes all over, all the time. Even here in CT, although they are small. Stay safe!

Larry,

I had no idea there were earthquakes in Utah. This is a very informative post. I bet you would make an extraordinary Real Estate Instructor because of your unique style, persistence and creativity. You're a great motivator too!
