Earth Day is April 22; however, some organizations are holding events this weekend, such as California State Parks on Saturday, April 16th for the California State Parks Foundation's Earth Day 2011 Restoration & Cleanup presented by PG&E.
This is an excellent way to give back to the community and it takes little time and effort. The event in which I will be participating is at Folsom Lake this Saturday and it's only from around 8:30 until 1pm. I like the idea of kicking off my weekend cleaning the lake area with others who also care about our surrounding natural escapes. An added benefit is increased home values to surrounding communities! Realtors and Loan Officers already know this, but I think most of us are generous and caring enough to do it just because it needs doing.
