A new segment of the home buying population that has become increasingly frustrated with maintaining an older home are looking to re-establish themselves within an amenity rich urban neighborhood, wanting, still,  to be close to libraries, markets, churches, parks and fee from week-end home repair projects.

Developers and builders are starting to see this trend happening throughout the country, causing many to re-think their approach to building.  One developer-builder Martha Rose, of Martha Rose Construction, Inc., has figured it out. It’s critical “that I build something that fits into the neighborhood” mentions Rose when asked about her newest infill project City Cabins in Seattle’s Queen Anne Hill neighborhood.

Her Built-Green homes on Queen Anne Hill will be a perfect example of adding value to the community by building less, smaller homes that are more environmentally friendly that blend into the existing neighborhood. Their new “lifestyle house” is a product that is targeted to a specific group of buyers looking for a well designed house in a neighborhood centric area. Their overall goal is too eventually build homes that are sustainable, environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a home’s life-cycle.”

City Cabins on Queen Anne Hill will include an extremely tight thermal envelope and a super-insulation package. The indoor air quality will be enhanced with a heat-recovery-ventilator and low VOC finishes. The classic architecture should be a great fit into the Queen Anne Hill neighborhood, while the interiors will be filled with contemporary styling and recycled materials like the tongue and groove 2 X 8 flooring that was purchased from a warehouse in Oregon that was being de-constructed.  The yards will be landscaped with drought -tolerant scrubs, plants and pavers.

The 2 homes are slated to begin construction in May of 2011 and be completed in October. Each home will be approximately 2000 square feet and have 3 bedrooms, 3 baths and have westerly views of the Olympics and Salmon Bay.

The homes are available for presale, for more information contact Adrian Willanger 206 909-7636 or visit CityCabins.com.
