Eight Days to an Awesome Open House puts you on track in just one week to have an awesome open house.  Actually, I like to plan a little more in advance than that, but the point here is to demonstrate that it's not rocket science, a simple plan and a few extra activities to prepare each day for it, and you'll turn the open house into productive rewarding time.  This is the second post in the series.  Be sure to read the first one too.Open House Success

  • Print a Flyer for the Open House and be sure to include the QR Code so people can easily add it to their calendar.  These will be generic in that they are suitable for the general public or other agents who want to send or bring clients.
  • Install Open House Rider on the sign at the property.  Getting this out a week in advance increases exposure to all those neighbors going to work and back.  People often have friends they want to move into their neighborhood.  Getting the rider out early in the week gives them all week to remember and spread the word
  • Build Positive Energy now do whatever it is that you do to create good positive energy, whether it's uplifting music, a motivational speaker's audio recording, some quiet devotional time, or planting an old dead religious icon head first in the front yard - whatever works for you, just be sure that you reinforce what a wonderful and awesome open house you're going to have this weekend.

These are great tips Drick.  Too many practitioners don't seem to attach enough value to their precious time.  Many think that working the open house means to post in MLS and show up minutes late of the start time, return phone calls during the actual OH and then leave right on the dot of closing time.
Value the time you are spending and your obligation to your seller by proactively marketing to increase the traffic and maximize your efforts.

Carole, though it seems like a no-brainer, I suppose that's part of why our industry has a lot of people who "did real estate" at some point in their lives.  The true professionals know how to make the open house work.  Glad you like the post.  Sandy, stay tuned, I've got all 8 days ready.
